Volunteers at the Cancer Support Foundation

Multiple volunteer opportunities exist. Meet new friends and have fun working on our annual fundraising events or attend our volunteer training program and become a CSF Patient Volunteer. How about driving patients to treatment? Prospective volunteers are invited to contact the office at:

The Cancer Support Foundation volunteer receives a minimum of 24 hours of training, plus continuing education and support sessions on a monthly basis. The volunteer maintains the patient’s confidentiality and is committed to preserving the dignity and personal choices of the patient. The volunteer’s services may include:

Providing emotional support to newly diagnosed cancer patients and offering information and resources to those living with cancer;
Assisting families whose loved one is bedridden at home or is hospitalized by providing respite care and running errands;
Providing transportation to and from medical treatments;
Visitation of cancer patients hospitalized at Los Alamitos Medical Center;
Offering support and guidance during the final stage of life and assisting the family through bereavement.
Support Groups for such topics as breast cancer, other cancers, and bereavement.

The Cancer Support Foundation is governed by the Board of Directors. Participants include community leaders, physicians,and local business leaders. The Board oversees patient programs, public relations and all financial aspects. The Board of Directors meets monthly at Los Alamitos Medical Center.

We have volunteers available to speak at your business, club, or service organization. Your group can be made aware of our services and programs by inviting one of our speakers to attend your organization’s event. If your organization uses speakers as part of your program please consider inviting one of ours to speak to your group!
